Indeed that day Osirus was at last recalled;
He wakes the happy seeds to summer’s growth.
We seek a human harbour, wander in the woods;
Still pools have charmed us with their shallow shores.
The flashing fish can play in their preserve because
A stagnant flood allows a spacious pond.
But cruelly charged for rest in this alluring haunt!
That Antiphates had a better host!
A petty Jew, no less, was landlord of this place;
An animal averse to fare of men.
He taxes us for bushes brushed and sea-weed touched;
Bewails the loss of water down our throats.
We pay our dues - abuse of his indecent race
Which inexcusably cuts head from member.
They are the root of evil - cold Sabbaths suit their heart;
A heart that’s colder than their own religion.
