line 454: are we to understand "alta" as if there were a "per" before it? That is, I made my way (tractum) through the deep parts (alta) of the treacherous channel?
line 467: no main verbs in this couplet - just checking: we supply "est" to read "he was my friend/guy, whom... through whom..."
